Danie is one of our Gap Year students and is part of the worship internship through the school. The worship interns were given an assignment to write a song for Advent based on our focused theme each Sunday. This week we light the prophecy candle.
“My song is inspired by the prophetic scriptures of the coming Messiah. It is a song of worship and honor to King Jesus who came for us and did all that he said he would do.”
–Danie
The Bethlehem Candle is about PEACE, and reminds us that Jesus came to make His home with us, and bring us PEACE, and that He has promised to never leave us alone.
Monica leads the worship internship program for the Gap Year School. She taught a songwriting course and gave the students an assignment to each write a song for Advent based on our focused theme each Sunday. This week we light the Bethlehem candle.
“I wrote this song inspired by the book of Ruth, whose redemptive story took place in Bethlehem. It is a beautiful parallel of our redemption in Christ whose birth was prophesied “Out of little Bethlehem…will come the ruler of Israel…He will lead like a shepherd and be our peace. (Micah 5:2-4)”
–Monica
The Shepherd’s Candle is about JOY and reminds us that God welcomed scruffy and dirty Shepherds to the birth of Jesus, and that still today He comes near to us in the hardest & “scruffiest” moments of life to love us and bring us His Joy.
Ethan is one of our Gap Year students and is part of the worship internship through the school. The worship interns were given an assignment to write a song for Advent based on our focused theme each Sunday. This week we light the Shepherd’s Candle.
“This song is a testimony of the shepherds being used by God, the lowest of society being called for God’s glory. This is a beautiful picture of our salvation, being called from nothing into the glory of God.”
-Ethan
The Angel’s Candle points to the MIRACLE of His coming, and reminds us
that Jesus birth was accompanied by a huge angel choir, and was like no other birth in all of
history! He came with a mighty shout from heaven, and He STILL comes to move mountains,
to set free, and to bring life overflowing!
Solomon is one of our Gap Year students and is part of the worship internship through the school. The worship interns were given an assignment to write a song for Advent based on our focused theme each Sunday. This week we light the Angel’s Candle.
“The angels in Luke 2 were not just sent to tell shepherds about Jesus, but to proclaim his royalty and beauty to the earth, just as in heaven. I wrote this song to declare the glory of God, just as the angels did.”
-Solomon
The Christ Candle reminds us that it’s all about Jesus. He is the center of all of creation, and all life revolves around Him. He brings light & life to dark, dead places, and He changes everything!
bruno is one of our Gap Year students and is part of the worship internship through the school. The worship interns were given an assignment to write a song for Advent based on our focused theme each Sunday. This week we light the Christ Candle.
“Throughout the scripture, Christ is presented as a Prophet, Priest, and King. This song is just a proclamation of this wonderful truth. He is the light no darkness can overcome. Happy Birthday Jesus!!!”
-Bruno Van Vliet
